Ingmar Bergman is dead

Comments

... and so is Antonioni :-(

Antonioni couldn't survive in a world without Bergman. They were like a pair of moluscs.

Deaths always come in threes...any guesses on who the next one will be, perhaps another great european director? The Seventh Seal is still one of the best movies ever made. I worry about Death; I suck at chess.

I dunno, I was trying to case the Janus Films list to see if I could get some insight on that but no success. Bertolucci could die but he's a pretty vibrant 67-year-old.

Don't worry about the chess vs. Death. You only need to be able to run really fast... or be handy with a sack.

you are the only person i know besides me who knows about the death and sack reference. very cool.

I think Chad (King Mob in the comments) knows it too but yeah, it's a hell of a secret handshake. Best story that nobody's ever heard of.

i saw a rendition of it on 'Jim Henson Presents' when I was a kid. that was such a great show. I've recited a few of the stories I remember from it back in my baby-sitting days. I love the real old folk tales, the ones that are slightly scary.

Yeah my story is exactly the same. I used the Death in a sack story for a storytelling workshop when I was in middle school.

i can't believe you can get the definitive collection dvd for $15! thanks jb. i'm going to order it tonight.

I never bought the Storyteller: Greek Myths one, but I've got the first season and I love it.

well, if you're divesting some of your dvd collection... ;)
